Line of Duty Memorial

 

Dedicated to the Members of the Arlington County Fire Department, both Volunteer and Career, that have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Citizens of Arlington County and surrounding areas.  Let us keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.

Fireman Gene Payne, Ballston VFD struck and killed by an automobile in 1929.

 

 

Fireman Frank Hinkins, Falls Church VFD killed while responding to a false alarm in July 1934.

 

Fireman George Wilmer Skidmore, Ballston VFD killed in fire truck accident on June 13, 1943.

 

Captain Charles Theodore, ACFD Co. 10, died of smoke inhalation while fighting a fire on June 24, 1961.

 

Captain Archie Hughes, ACFD Co. 4, killed in a flashover on October 19,1964.

 

 

 

Lieutenant Elmer Marcey, ACFD Co. 7, died of a massive heart attack on November 23, 1967 while at the watch desk of Station 7.  He joined the Arlington Fire Department in 1940 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1955.

 

 

Firefighter William Miller, ACFD Co. 10, died of a heart attack during his physical in 1982.
